Job Description

Job Summary
The Designer role is a hands-on position responsible for creating detailed designs and fabrication drawings for custom mechanical equipment and systems. This position requires both technical expertise and practical understanding of how designs move from concept into manufacturing and installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D models and fabrication-level drawings for complex equipment and assemblies.
  • Apply drafting standards and ensure designs meet project requirements and industry specifications.
  • Support Project Managers by preparing submittal packages and ensuring designs align with project schedules.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and field service teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Assist with shop fabrication, machining, and assembly of equipment.
  • Conduct site visits for field measurements, installation support, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Participate in product development initiatives to enhance equipment designs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design.
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling with SolidWorks (Certified SolidWorks Professional preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication-level detailing and application of drafting standards.
  • Experience designing mechanical equipment, weldments, assemblies, and power transmission components (motors, gearboxes, chain drives, shafts, bearings).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with performing design calculations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to fabrication processes such as welding, machining, forming, and assembly.
  • Background with material handling systems (e.g., conveyors, bulk storage) is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with 2D design using AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of electrical power, instrumentation, and controls is a plus.

Education
Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
