It covers a broader range of health-related issues than PFL, ensuring employees can take necessary time off to recover from their own illnesses or support family members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-spacer aligncenter kt-block-spacer-113998_404006-56\"><div class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\" wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Webinar Notes: Managing PFL &amp; FMLA Leave<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">During an April 2024 webinar, I highlighted several critical aspects of managing PFL and FMLA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-spacer aligncenter kt-block-spacer-113998_76afe3-cb\"><div class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Eligibility Requirements: <\/strong>Understanding who qualifies for PFL and FMLA is essential. Employees must meet specific criteria related to their employment duration and hours worked. Clarifying these requirements helps manage expectations and ensures only eligible employees apply for leave.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-spacer aligncenter kt-block-spacer-113998_c6ca9e-58\"><div class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Leave Entitlements: <\/strong>Both PFL and FMLA provide distinct leave entitlements. While both programs currently offer up to twelve (12) weeks of leave during a rolling twelve (12) month period, they have differing eligibility criteria.&nbsp; Most notably, an <em>employer<\/em> ascertains employees\u2019 eligibility for FMLA, while the <em>employer\u2019s insurance<\/em> carrier assesses PFL eligibility.&nbsp; Tracking these entitlements accurately is vital for compliance and planning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-spacer aligncenter kt-block-spacer-113998_d51a9c-cc\"><div class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Intermittent Leave: <\/strong>Both programs permit intermittent leave, enabling employees to take leave in separate blocks rather than one continuous period.
